Myanmar's World Heritage
While UNESCO World Heritage Sites are not as prevalent in
Myanmar compared to other Southeast Asian countries, a
number of Burmese destinations are currently on
UNESCO’s tentative list, such as the temples in Bagan and
Inle Lake. Now that Myanmar is no longer isolated from
the outside world, it is likely that UNESCO will soon
recognize many more important Burmese sites. With All
Asia Tours’ Myanmar vacation packages, you can discover
UNESCO-recognized Pyu Ancient Cities, as well as many
other fascinating attractions and cultural treasures.
Pyu Ancient Cities was recognized by UNESCO in 2014 and includes ruins and archaeological remains of three ancient Burmese metropolises. This region was strongly influenced by India and became the first historically documented Buddhist civilization in all of Southeast Asia. Pyu is also known for its ingenious uses of iron and brick, as well as its innovations in urban planning.
The longstanding Pyu kingdoms lasted from approximately 200 B.C. to 900 A.D., and as soon as you set foot on the site, you’ll feel swept away into Myanmar’s fascinating past. Discover the remains of burial grounds, Buddhist stupas, and agricultural water systems built into the surrounding foliage, and imagine what it must have been like to live in this urban center so many centuries ago. Only these three cities are designated as UNESCO now, but other sites and cities can be added in the future.

"Fantastic experience, very well organized in every detail. Vietman is not rich of historical sites, but a country that entertain the visitor with all aspects of their culture. More than a tour it has been a holiday. I enjoyed a lot entertainment as painting mask and cooking lessons."
