Sagaing, one of Myanmar's ancient capitals, was an especially important city during the 18th century. The town is home to a number of colonial buildings, which serve as contemporary reminders of past British colonization. Some of Sagaing's major attractions include its many Buddhist monasteries, especially the impressive Kaungmudaw Pagoda.
